Editing

What I began today is the two day editing process for my music video project and getting it done and complete it by the end of the week.

What I researched mainly for the editing phase is filters and overlays I will be using for making the music video, the idea was to turn the music video to make it look like it was recorded on a video tape recorder.

The whole process of editing the music video was really easy to do and it all went really smooth, it was quite hard getting the overlays onto the video since I didn’t figure out how to put the overlay on until I searched it and now how to do it properly, the aspect ratio was easy but took

I have achieved the main goal perfectly on time, I didn’t achieve my original plan but I kept the concept and made it more simpler and less complicated than my original intention, the footage looks really good and the stock footage while little used improves the video a lot and finally the filters, they turn this entire music video from good to outstanding.

Filming

The main goal for the filming is to get it done in a Hour and a half, getting back to the college and edit the footage and turn it into a music video.

The other things I needed to do is to download stock footage of waves and moving them into my Premiere project folder and edit them after my footage has been successfully imported onto OneDrive and then into Premiere.

The only equipment I needed was my phone because I wanted to film it in a first person perspective similar to the action film “Hardcore Henry” because the character is the only one in this world that has survived this catastrophic impact set in the music video.

The only skills I needed is mainly to achieve is handheld feel and making it look like you are experiencing it through the characters eyes.

The only research I only needed was how to import my video files into OneDrive and then into my Premiere project folder.

For the filming, I decided to experiment by doing no tripod shots or other professional shots or not using a proper camera but instead use my Phone camera because its easier to use and it gives it the true feel I want in my music video.

The only experiment I did was mainly zooming in on objects and things that make the place I’m filming looks really distorted or kinda disturbing.

Luckily I had little to no problems when I was filming so it was fine.

I have achieved my goal almost perfectly and I am very proud of the footage, it was a great experience filming outside and making a music video for this course.

Music Video Evaluation

Music Video Evaluation

The main concept for the music video was a world that was destroyed in a catastrophic event which the person the only one who is still alive on this abandoned Earth, the concept was inspired by the song I made called “Neo” and the anime series “Neon Genesis Evangelion”.

The filming went really well, I couldn’t film in Brighton or in London due to really bad weather so I decided to film it in Redhill which was a great choice since it was only down the road and the place has a really abandoned feel when I began explore around the town and filming still shots and running shots.

The only problem I had was is the amount of time I had outside and if I had enough footage to complete the music but luckily I had the right amount of clips which all manage to be edited and to be perfect for the music videos full completion.

I think the project went really well, I have enjoyed it a lot and it really tested out my Adobe Premiere skills and improving it every time I use the software on this course.

Brief History of Music Videos research!

Music Videos began as recorded live performances during the beginning of the 20th Century, but then in the 1960s it started to appear and flourish as new ideas and concepts were introduced and then in the 1980s, MTV was born and it began the music video revolution as it played only 24/7 Music Videos.

It was getting bigger and bigger until in the mid 2000s, YouTube arrived and it began a large template and selection for new audiences on the Internet which soon took MTV out of the picture and YouTube became the new king of a vast selection of Music Videos.

But with Music Videos coming in, new and upcoming artists begin to thrive as they use YouTube and other video sites to show them the talent that they possess and the music videos they were produced by them and the new wave of music video directors.

Music Video Directors Research

The first Music Video Director I have been researching and been influenced about is a guy called Cole Bennett who works with a company/brand called Lyrical Lemonade, he mainly famous for directing music videos for Soundcloud Rappers like Juice WRLD, Lil Skies and so much more, I like his music videos a lot because they match the songs that the rappers have produced for most of his productions and his editing is really good! A good example of his work is with the song “All Girls are the Same” by Juice WRLD!

The second Music Video Director I have researched about for this project is Hannah Lux Davies, Ive watched a couple of her music videos she has made with various artists and they are very interesting indeed and is a great inspiration for my music video I will be doing this project. An example of her work is the Ariana Grande music video “thank u, next”.

Video Shots Project

For this project, we were given a sheet of paper which has names and images of different camera angles we must replicate when using the camera, this is what my group has recorded!
